Rick Baskin has his own law practice with offices in Oakland , Hayward, Fremont and Concord. He graduated with honors from UC Santa Barbara. He earned his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Before entering private practice, he tried numerous criminal cases as a Deputy District Attorney.

Mr. Baskin is a graduate of the Trial Lawyers College, a non-profit organization founded by prominent trial attorney and author, Gerry Spence, dedicated to training lawyers to be winning advocates and to obtain justice for people. His essay, "My Story of Self Discovery at Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College", was personally selected by Mr. Spence to be displayed on the Trial Lawyers College website.

Rick is not only a trial attorney but also an accomplished musician. After studying piano, trombone and guitar, Rick taught himself to play the blues harmonica at age 17. He opened for the legendary John Lee Hooker when he performed with Hooker’s daughter, Zakiya at the House of Blues. Rick also played with Craig Horton, the guitarist for Muddy Waters and Little Walter. In the Bay Area, he has performed with many other well known blues musicians including Jules Broussard and Larry Vann. In 2006 Rick released his first CD “Baskin in the Blues.”
