Rick Baskin has his own law practice with offices in Oakland , Hayward, Fremont and Concord. He graduated with honors from UC Santa Barbara. He earned his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Before entering private practice, he tried numerous criminal cases as a Deputy District Attorney.

Mr. Baskin is a graduate of the Trial Lawyers College, a non-profit organization founded by prominent trial attorney and author, Gerry Spence, dedicated to training lawyers to be winning advocates and to obtain justice for people. His essay, "My Story of Self Discovery at Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College", was personally selected by Mr. Spence to be displayed on the Trial Lawyers College website.

Rick is not only a trial attorney but also an accomplished musician. After studying piano, trombone and guitar, Rick taught himself to play the blues harmonica at age 17. He opened for the legendary John Lee Hooker when he performed with Hooker’s daughter, Zakiya at the House of Blues. Rick also played with Craig Horton, the guitarist for Muddy Waters and Little Walter. In the Bay Area, he has performed with many other well known blues musicians including Maria Muldaur, Jules Broussard and Larry Vann. In 2006 Rick released his first CD “Baskin in the Blues.”

MEALS ON WHEELS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA: the oldest and largest organization in the US representing those who offer meal services to people in need and make a difference in the lives of our neighbors, our veterans and all of our nation’s seniors who are facing the threat of hunger.  These programs provide well over one million meals to seniors who need them each day. ALAMEDA COUNTY CHILD ABUSE LISTENING, INTERVIEWING AND COORDINATING CENTER (CALICO): provides a supportive environment to interview children and facilitates a collaborative response to child abuse in which the needs of children take precedence in the legal arena. (www.calicocenter.org)

LEGAL ASSISTANCE FOR SENIORS: the agency is the only legal services program in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties devoted exclusively to assisting the elderly by providing legal services to assure life’s most basic needs. Their mission is to ensure the independence and dignity of seniors by protecting their legal rights through education,counseling and advocacy. LAS targets it’s services to cities and neighborhoods with high concentrations of seniors living in poverty, as well as to areas where seniors in need may be isolated and invisible.
